The Great Western Stamp Show on March 14th and 15th in Richmond, BC, Canada, offers attendees a variety of events for beginning through advanced collectors, a huge selection of stamps to purchase, two major stamp auctions, and door prizes in the form of rare stamps.
The Great Western Stamp Show features twenty dealers, two auctions, and six door prizes including the first stamp ever issued! Stamp experts from across Canada will be gathering in Richmond, BC March 14th and 15th for the Great Western Stamp Show sponsored by the Canadian Stamp Dealers Association (CSDA). The weekend event will include a varity of events and plenty of surprizes as well as the opportunity to win rare stamps.
Twenty dealers will be offering thousands of stamps, covers, and postcards for sale. Those that are members of CSDA will be happy to answer questions about your stamps including condition assessments and valuations. Canada’s largest stamp supply company will be on hand with everything a collector needs from beginning supplies to advanced collector paraphernalia.
The Steveston Auction will be on Friday from 6-9pm at the event site, however, previews will be available at the firm’s office in Steveston, BC, March 11th & 12th. This auction of 594 lots is, according to Steveston’s catalog, comprised of “a substantial old-time USA collection.” The auction preview is Friday, March 14th from 10-6 during the convention or March 11th and 12th at their offices in Steveston. On-line bids will be accepted, and there will be a 10% buyer’s premium.
The Ron Leith Auction will take place on Saturday the 15th from 6-9. This auction boasts 136 lots including rarities such as USA stampless covers of the 1837 $3 rate Pony Express, Boer War Covers, WWI & WWII Prisoner of War Covers, a China Boxer Rebellion Cover, and a 50c Columbia Airmail. Leith requires a 15% commission above the hammer price, and will accept floor and phone bids.
Both houses guarantee the authenticity of their consignments, and offer full refunds if stamps are proven by accepted experts to be incorrectly described or unauthentic.
Door Prizes are sure to thrill stamp collectors of all ages and levels. There will be three given each day, and the prizes include the first stamp ever issued, and probably the most famous stamp in the world, the Great Britain #1 penny Black. Second prize is Canada’s first stamp, the #4 Beaver. Third prize is a Canada #302 LH VF Fish Dollar.
